Hopefully, you've seen enough pocket change in the last couple of years to notice that the US Mint has introduced new quarters that have each of the 50 states represented on the back. It's actually a ten year program over which all 50 states will be released, and we're already four years into it.

Anyway, the coolest part is that California's state coin is coming out in 2005, and you can actually vote on the design that you like best! I doubt the state committee will take the public too seriously, but it's still kind of fun to see what the possibilities are. Man, there are some UGLY designs out there. Imagine my dismay to discover that the one I picked hasn't been too popular in the polls thus far, and one of the ones I thought was hideous is actually doing pretty well!
