George e-mailed me this today, which is supposedly from
Bob Cringely's column. As he put it, it's funny to some...but not to others.
How about this nugget swirling around the Internet: "If you bought $1,000 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $72. If you bought $1,000 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer,and traded in the cans for the nickel deposit, you would have $79." In my view, either Nortel's in the wrong business, or beer really is the backbone of this nation!
